Will H&M open a store in the Philippines?
Hennes & Mauritz, popularly known as H&M, was established in Sweden. Since 1947, the company has been selling a wide variety of clothing for men, women and children.
In 1964, the first store outside of Sweden opened in Norway. Currently, the chain has about 2,200 stores in about 38 countries. The big question now is whether H&M will really open a store in the Philippines.
H&M in the Philippines
Rumor has been circulating as early as the year 2010 that the brand will soon launch its flagship store in Manila. H&M dresses, shirts, shoes, trousers, jeans, shorts, skirts, jackets & coats, blazers, waistcoats, sportswear, swimwear, lingerie, nightwear, bags, and other accessories for men, women and children are considered hot items that several H&M fans are even willing to fly to Hong Kong just to visit the nearest branch. With cheap prices, H&M will surely capture the Philippines shopping scene by storm.
Rumor has it that both the SM and Rustan’s SSI are interested in acquiring the license to retail the brand. We are yet to get a confirmation but we’ll surely blog it as more details come. As for now, most people will settle on buying items off of eBay or flying to countries with store branches.
